Daniel Treacy is the Physiotherapy advisor for the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. He completed his PhD at The University of Sydney in 2021. Daniel does research in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine.
Description: There is clear evidence regarding the types of exercises that can improve balance and reduce falls, these exercises must provide a moderate to high challenge to balance and be done at an adequate dosage to be effective. The challenge is in implementing this type of exercise safely and at sufficient intensity. This lecture will outline the clinical implementation of effective balance training with a focus on running Balance classes for people who are at high risk of falls.

- Describe the implementation of challenging balance exercises
- Describe the features of running a successful balance class
